Saudi National Day 2023: History, Culture and Celebrations!

On September 23, 2023, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will celebrate its 93rd Saudi National Day. Al Yom Al Watany is another name for the Saudi National day in Arabic. It honours King Abdulaziz al-Saud's royal proclamation in 1932 that renamed the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The National Day celebrations are a time for Saudis to come together and celebrate their national identity. 

Also, it is a way for Saudis to celebrate their achievements and look forward to the future.  There are public events held throughout the country, including parades, concerts, and fireworks displays. The Saudi flag is flown proudly, and traditional Saudi costumes are worn. Many brands provide special sales and Saudi National day offers. 

The National Day celebrations are also a time to reflect on the country's progress over the past 93 years. Saudi Arabia has come a long way since its unification, and it is now a modern and prosperous nation. The country has made significant advances in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.  Saudi Arabia is also a significant participant in the world economy. Saudi National Day is a reminder of the country's rich history and its bright future.

History of Saudi National Day

As the birthplace of Islam with historically significant sites such as Mecca and Medina, Saudi Arabia has historically limited its national celebrations to religious holidays such as Eid al Fitr, Eid al Adha, and the Hajj.  Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah issued a proclamation making September 23 a national holiday annually that would begin with the nation's 75th anniversary in 2007. This marked the start of a new era for the kingdom and was a significant step in the development of nationalism and a strong Saudi identity. As mentioned above, the first National Day celebrations were held in 1933.  The celebrations were modest, but they reflected the excitement and optimism that was felt throughout the country.  Over the years, the Saudi National Day celebrations have become more elaborate and festive.  Today, they are a major event that is celebrated by all Saudis.

Significance of Saudi National Day

Saudi National Day is a significant event for the people of Saudi Arabia. It is a day to celebrate the country's unity, its achievements, and its bright future. The celebrations are also a way to pay tribute to the founding fathers of the country, especially King Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Bloggers Community Conference 2017 - [Event Highlights]

Bloggers Community Conference 2017 was organized on 16th April 2017, at Karachi Arts Council by a Former sub-editor of GEO NEWS, Mohsin Zia and his fellow friend Engr Usama Masood . Several professionals from various walks of life participated which included journalists, intellectuals, bloggers, freelancers, pranksters and online business experts, all on a single platform.

The event was immensely advertised through print and electronic media as a result of which it succeeded to grab the attention of people from all across the city and beyond. Arts Council community hall was so filled with people that even the air conditioning system stopped working.

I had the pleasure of attending this seminar as a guest speaker along with Abdul Wali, Umer Iftikhar, Nadir Ali, Zahid Shahid and Shujain Ali.

Central Jail Karachi: Truth Behind Those Tall Walls

Note: This post is for educational purpose and a part of our entrepreneurship training where we aim to teach you how to think outside the box and explore the world with open eyes.

We have seen enough of good human beings but sometimes meeting people who are convicted or under trial for committing crimes help you to look at this dark world from a different perspective. I live near National Stadium and I often cross Central Jail Karachi to reach my office which is located on Main Shaheed Millat Road. I was always curious to know what exists behind those tall walls and how does life looks like from inside. Fortunately on 20th August 2016, I went for a prison tour thanks to my friend Hussain Kango whose father Aurangzeb Kango is SP Police and administrator at "Youthful Offender Industrial School Karachi". What I saw inside completely changed my negative perception about life in prison.

Just like any normal citizen who has not seen prison from inside, I thought Jail was a nightmare zone with dark sophisticated rooms with poor ventilation, limited access to open air and no quality food. Prisoners in jail would be living in small cages like animals with guards surrounding them from all corners. This is the image we all have in mind thanks to movies and dramas that we watch on daily basis through local television networks. But the reality literally shocked me.

A Jail or Prison is different from Police Thana (station) where you see small rooms with iron bars at front. A Jail is basically a learning institute where criminals are taught how to become civilized human beings. Central Jail Karachi is the second largest jail of Pakistan housing over 6000 prisoners including convicted terrorists and international militants like murderer of Daniel Pearl. The jail is divided into three sub-jails which are:

1. Central Jail - Houses serious terrorists and convicted criminals
2. Women Jail - Houses women
3. Bacha Jail  - Under 18 prisoners (One We visited)

Central Prison For Women is a Jail for women prisoners which is sub divided into two sections for boys and women. This prison is dedicated especially for "Women" mostly but a small section is dedicated for teenage boys for their schooling purpose and this smaller section is called "Bacha Jail". Boys and women are kept in separate barracks divided by huge 20+ Feet walls, with no direct contact in between. We were allowed access to the boys prison only. The women prison is safely guarded by trained female police guards and only women or authorized staff is allowed access.

What Did I Saw Inside Prison?

I was accompanied by Hussain Kango (center) and another friend from Islamabad named Muhammad Fahad Raza(right).

We received a kind reception by SP Aurangzeb Kango who is surely an educated and senior police officer. Whatever that you will read later on happened due to SP Aurangzeb's hard work for Jail prisoners.

Our mobile networks seized to work due to jammers. Telephonic communication could be done only using landline PTCL. Mobile phones signals do not work as soon as you are at a distance of 100 meters away from jail. This is done due to security precautions. Jail is now surrounded by bomb proof walls from all corners, which is a development that occurred after a failed penetration through tunnels by TTP. 

The moment guards were informed about our arrival. I felt like watching a movie. The world behind large Metallic Gates uncovered for the first time in front of my eyes. I saw a large green ground with ducks moving to my left and a small playground area for kids as shown in the image below.

To the right of this play area was a kitchen for prisoners. The food menu was really impressive. Prisoners were served chicken thrice a week and beef once a week. Apart from beef and chicken major menu was Moong Ki Daal, Daal Masood and similar seed recipes. Sir Aurangzeb told us that the staff including him, eats the same food that the prisoners are served and the food is cooked by a contractor and not by the prisoners. Hussain told me that the food is so delicious that it outstands the food we eat at home when it comes to taste. I never expected that prisoners would be served with meat 4 days a week and this was surely a great discovery in its own.

We were not allowed to take pictures but we were told that a TV drama by the name "Ye maira dewanapan hai Episode 31" has been recorded here so we will find most of the screenshots there. Sir Auranzeb Kango has himself acted in it also which you can watch below during the duration 9:15-15:00 of this video.

After the second gate, we moved towards Gate 3 which was preceded by a long pathway surrounded by two 20+ feet long walls on both sides as shown below:

Every gate was guarded by two police officers, who would salute SP Kango the moment we would cross them. I saw around 100 teenage boys running towards the mosque on our left because it was time for Zuhr prayer.

We then visited the barracks which were large rooms to house over 50 prisoners. All prisoners were kept inside the same room. I saw comfortable beds, with windows on all sides for ventilation, fans and even a small TV where prisoners could see documentaries and behavioral programs on fixed schedule basis.

Guess what I saw next?

1. Prisoner dining room with marble tables and comfortable seats. This looked no less than an auditorium also.
2. A body building gym with few equipment where prisoners could work out
3. A tailor room where prisoners are taught cloth stitching
4. A small computer training class where prisoners are taught basic computer operating skills
5. A small library
6. A hair saloon for prisoners and also for training purpose
7. A Dhobi Gat for washing cloths
8. A Mosque for prayer
9. A Painting room for art work. the paintings that you see in pictures is mostly painted by prisoners themselves.
10. A carpenter workshop
11. I saw no weapon in hands of prison guards, only sticks.
12. Near Gate2 prisoners could meet their family members in meeting area behind iron bars.

Before we could exit, we took some photos with prison guards on exit gate.

Our Visit To IEEE NCS Orientation Session 2016

On 8^th Feb, 2016 NEDuet university which is amongst the most popular engineering Institutes of the country, invited us for a motivational talk on Entrepreneurship and Corporate Slavery. This orientation ceremony was organized by the IEEE NED Computer Society with an intention to welcome the new batches with positive energy and offer them productive counseling on how to make best possible use of their four years bachelor's journey. This was my second most memorable visit to Civil Audio Visual Hall of NED after "BluePrint to PlanB" seminar. Last time I presented there as a student and this time I was honored to present as an Alumnus. I am extremely grateful to NED administration especially Dr Muhammad Khurram for all their love and respect. Today's blog post will discuss all important highlights of the event that took place and some untold stories which followed afterwards.

"Ifza" - Our New Baby Blogger!

How wonderful does it feels to hold your baby girl for the first time in your arms while she smiles at you! It was the best experience of my life ever! Your brother is finally a father to a little princess from heavens Alhamdulillah and gifted with the most beautiful responsibility of raising a kid. We named her "Ifza" meaning "Protective Angel" so her official name thus becomes "Ifza Mustafa". Ifza is an Arabic name having a synonym 'Hifza', so people often confuse the names because of the same syllable sounds. Ramadan kareem has finally reached its destination and as I am writing this post, we are preparing the Last iftar and surely this marks the end a Holy month which was full of spiritual contemplation and reflection. A Journey To Northern Pakistan - Valley Kaghan

On 12th June 2014, I was accompanied along with my wife on a 7 days tour to Valley Kaghan, locally famous as "Wadi-e- Naran Kaghan". Kaghan Valley is 161 Km long covered with snow capped mountains, lush green forests, noisy waterfalls, chilly rivers,  lakes and rhythmic songs of birds and trees all around.  Since it is the 67th Independence day of my homeland Pakistan, I therefore decided to share the beautiful experience  of Naran-Kaghan on this Splendid day of Peace and liberty. This trip was planned just after two months of my wedding ceremony which took place on 12th April 2014. Let me take you straight on a roller coaster ride of this exciting journey!

Eid-ul-Fitr 2014 Mubarak To Everyone!

So the much-awaited Eid-ul-Fitr is finally upon us! The Ramadan Kareen 2014 has drawn to a close, marking the end of the 1435th Ramadan according to the Islamic (Hijri) Calendar. "Eid" in Arabic translates to "Celebration" or "Festivity", while "Fitr" means "Breaking" (the fast). Hence, Muslims from all around the world celebrate the happy ending of the Holy month of Ramadan after 30 days of fasting. They share this joyous occasion with friends and family, and forget their worries and grievances for at least one day so that everyone can join in. Celebrating The Success of "Unexplored Success Treasures - 2014"

Entrepreneurship and Youth Awareness, the two different but not indistinct messages the STC Network has been maintaining for the better part of the past 5 years, resonated once again last month on the 23rd of February in Islamabad - and profoundly I must add. "Unexplored Success Treasures", the first event of its kind in Pakistan, was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for organizers, speakers and participants alike. But more than that, it was an eye-opener for the youth and those who wouldn't think outside their 9-5 box! We feel honored in having successfully delivered such a strong and valuable message to such individuals, and hence consider UST 2014 a victory for the STC Network, and for Entrepreneurship (Alhamdulillah)!

Highlights of our Exciting Experience at 'Pakistan Festival 2014'

Covering institutes across the country with the message of entrepreneurship and youth awareness, is an obligation that STC Network is trying our best to fulfill for the past 5 years. Communicating with a qualified public is indeed a simple task but conveying your message in simple words to an excited crowd of thousands consisting of mostly school children and housewives in national language was the toughest challenge of all. Pakistan Festival 2014 has therefore become the most memorable event of my life where we learnt a lot. Pakistan Helpline in association with Talib e Ilm Society, Anima and students across Karachi had organized a successful event on 23rd March 2014 at EXPO center, to share the spirit of being a devoted and loyal Pakistani. People from across the city participated in it including Nisar Ahmed khuhro (former Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh) , Dr Fauzia Siddiqui requires no introduction, Altaf Shakoor (President Pasban), Abid Beli, city Police commissioner, ARY TV Anchor Iqrar Ul Hasan (Host Sare Aam), Celeb Faisal Qureshi, Syed Qaiser Mehmood, NGO heads and a lot more amongst guests.

We are Coming to Pakistan Festival 2014!

karachiites surprise! Pakistan Helpline in association with Talib e Ilm Society, Anima and students across Karachi has organized a mega event on 23rd March 2014 at EXPO center, to share the spirit of being a devoted and loyal Pakistani. 23 March holds great respect in attaining a separate state for Muslims. It was that famous resolution at Lahore that led to the creation of this great new country for Muslims.

It was a pleasure meeting President of TALIB E ILM Society (Syed Ali Raza) and Ayesha Gull (President Anima "Towards Light" ) at my house.  After a detailed talk we have confirmed our participation in the event at the annual Pakistan Festival at city's biggest EXPO Center. I was extremely delighted to meet Ayesha and Syed Raza Ali, people with extreme potential and energy. It is amongst the biggest events that will bring a crowd of over 3000 people from across the country on a single platform. I have a lot to share with you all, that most of you missed at Unexplored Success Treasures. Its time to meet Karachi with a lot of fun and excitement!

Our Visit to NED University - "BluePrint to PlanB"

On 2nd October 2013, in Civil Auditorium of NED University of Engineering and Technology, we conducted one of the biggest events on Cyber Security & Content Marketing which attracted over 550 attendees from all over Karachi city but due to Tickets Limitation only 300 students could get the pass. It was a combined work shop by Rafay Baloch of RHA Info Sec and STC Network. The event was initially planned during March but was later postponed to October 2nd. We had an exciting experience with the enthusiastic youth out there. I loved the enthusiasm displayed by the thirsty students who dreamt of escaping the current failed system of Job Oriented society and wished to step ahead towards a more brighter future with a keen determination to step into Online Business and make a sustainable Income online without a Boss and Fear of Job security. With 10% penetration in online market, Pakistan is currently 27th largest internet user today with India being 3rd Largest Internet user globally. I started my presentation with Tim Berners-Lee invention of world wide web back in October 1994 and later disclosed the 16 Most highly practiced Content Marketing Strategies Online that has reshaped Businesses Online like never before. Eid-ul-Fitr 2013 Mubarak To Everyone!

So, the Holy Month of Ramadan came and went by once again, and even as I write this, I wait for the final Iftaar (braking fast) of the month. The time of spiritual contemplation and reflection ends with this Iftaar, and the festivities begin! And this is what Eid-ul-Fitr is all about! Enjoying the successful passing of another Blessed month whereby the human spirit gets rejuvenated, and heads off with a fresh start. Ramadan Kareem Mubarak With our 1000th Post!

Let us wish our beloved readers a Happy Ramadan Kareem 2013, a month full of blessings, peace, tranquility and refrainment from all self desires (The Nafs). It is 11th July today,  a time in lunar calendar when Saudi Arab is holding their Second Fast today and people in Pakistan and India are holding their first Fast. This is our 5th successful year of celebrating Ramadan with Blogosphere since 2009 and amazingly today's post marks the 1000th Blog Post on this small community blog! I was a teenager when I started serving Google blogger back in late 2008 and today running STC Network thanks to continuous love and support from all of you. Ramadan is the only month when we stop accepting New Service orders from Clients and we dedicate our full time to worship and also in serving visitors with interesting tutorials and widgets to glitter their online journals.
