How To Make Money By Making an Android App?

setup adsense on android Today's post is on making some revenue from your Android App. This is the plus point of Android App. Both the Android and Nokia Apps have one PLUS points each. Nokia App has a plus point of free publishing in OVI market and Android App has a plus point of making money from it.

This is the last post of The App Series. Those who have not yet read the Tutorials, please first read them :

  1. How To Make Android App
  2. How to Make a Nokia App
  3. How To Publish Android App in Android Market?
  4. How to Make Money By Making Android App?
There are two ways of making money from the Android App But for this, you must have to publish your app in Android Market . Without publishing it in Android Market, you cannot make money. Why? You will get the answer at the end of this post.

Display AdSense On your Mobile App

Sounds Good ? Obviously what can be better than adsense to generate some revenue. You can add Adsense to your Android App to make money. For this, you have to create an account at AdMob.

What is Admob?

In simple words, AdMob is the Mobile version of Adsense. It is used for Android Apps. You do not have to make a new account. You just use your existing Adsense Account.
How To use AdMob in Android Apps ?
1- Go to AdMob
2- Sign in with your Adsense Gmail Account.
3- Register with AdMob
4- Choose Payment Method ( Paypal Option Available )
5- Add your App's Android Market Link. ( This is why i said above that you must have to publish your app in Market because AdMob only registers the Published Apps . You will get your App's Market link once you publish it in Android Market )
6- After approval, you will get a unique code. Now this code you have to put in ibuildapp where your app is hosted.
Follow the images to clear everything :

This is Your App's Android Market URL. You only have to copy the highlighted code and paste it in Admob.

Now you have your Admob Publisher Id. Copy this. ( Don't click Get Publisher Code )

Now go back to ibuildapp --> My Apps ----> App Management ---- > App Settings
Scroll down to Advertisement Section and choose Admob. Paste your Publisher ID and Save.

DONE!
It will take maximum 24 hours to start showing the ads in your app.
IMPORTANT : Admob had a very good feature which is SHOWING GOOGLE ADS. It means when there is no ad to show in your app, it will show Google Ads in your App. Your earnings in Admob is separate from Adsense. You will get paid via Paypal.
To enable and must enable this feauture, go to your App's Settings in Admob as shown in image below.
This is the final overview of your Admob account
When your admob will be activated within 24 hours, the status color will turn Green.Adsense earnings through mobile app
2 - Making Money with Direct Advertisers
Now this is very difficult but can be effective if your app receives good stats. If you have good stats than you can contact any advertiser to advertise in your app but this you have to do manually. As i mentioned at the start of the post that why it is important to publish your app in Market  , this is the answer. You will get the stats only if your App is Published in Market so you can show stats to advertisers from your Market Account.

To put Direct Ads, simply add the banner and the url of the advertiser. Go to Advertisement Section of your app in ibuildapp and instead of Admob option, click HTML option.

  6. I think it would be cool to see some posts on layout techniques and theming. There’s definitely a large gap between the basic beginner standard UI elements app and the high quality custom themed apps like Pulse. Perhaps a post showing how you would create a popular app’s UI (purely from a layout perspective). Android app development

  10. There are a 2 different types of Android apps, games and entertainment based apps and standard apps that can increase productivity. Both kinds of apps are popular and have huge potentials as long as they are useful and really quality apps. So, whatever kind of app you decide to create, make sure your app ends up being a useful app.

  12. Leadbolt normally pays on a monthly basis, however, they have an option for an Early Payment which cost 20% of your earnings up to the time of the request.

My mother was hospitalized, so I made an Early Payment request assuming that Leadbolt would follow their policy, and deliver my payment "on the nearest possible Monday after the request has been approved", thus, allowing me to go see my critical mother in the hospital.

However, after contacting Leadbolt about my Early Payment was told this:

"Thank you for contacting LeadBolt. Early payment requests are generally processed on each Monday and are completely processed within 12-24 hours from the current time. However, our finance team is currently completing a full reconciliation with our largest advertisers for this month to ensure all traffic is accounted for, legitimate and compliant and this has not been completed yet.

This process is usually completed immediately before early payments are due, however due to an increase in traffic last week; our team is still working to complete these reconciliations and will not be able to process early payments until tomorrow."

So basically, they charged me a 20% fee for the early payment which won't be delivered on time, and prevented me from seeing my mother in the hospital as expected!! All because they think their "largest advertiser" is more important! Like they couldn't simply submit the $130 payment to me real quick so I can see my critical mother!

There is way better companies out there that care for their clients more then this. For instance, Airpush is awesome to work with. So is SendDroid.

EVERYONE BE FORWARNED ABOUT MAKING AN EARLY PAYMENT REQUEST WITH LEADBOLT! THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR SITE TIME FRAME, AND STILL CHARGE YOU, AND EXPECT YOU JUST TO TAKE UP THE REAR!

I'm so fed up with this company! I am moving the apps I have with them over to other companies starting tonight while my mother sits in the hospital awaiting my arrival.

  16. After creating android application you need to Promote your app. Don't just sit back and wait for the sales, but advertise your app. Tweet about it, set up a Facebook page for it, and blog about it. Also, send free copies to people who blog on similar topics to your app, and ask if they will review it.
