Automatically Open all External Links in a New Window in Blogger!

24 Comments so far

automatically open links in new windowJust today a client requested us that he wish to open all his external links in new window or new tab when clicked and he is not willing to manually do it for each post by adding target="_blank" inside each hyperlink. We wrote down a simple jQuery script that will check all hyperlinks inside your blog pages and will only add the target="_blank"  attribute to links which are external links. It wont  put any effect to internal links of the blog. The script will only detect external hostnames and the moment it finds one, it will insert into the html a target attribute that tells the browser to open the link in a new window. Thus preventing your blog readers from leaving your blog and also helps in increasing your overall pageviews and bounce rate. We thought we shall also share the script with all of you.

How to Set Cookies In Blogger Using HTML5?

5 Comments so far

setup cookies in BloggerSaving data inside cookies in blogger blogs is probably the most untouched topic because we often avoided talking about internet cookies due to its privacy concerns. There are many cookie plugins available such as this jQuery Plugin by Hartl which monitors and stores user activity. But neither will we use any such plugin nor will we run bulky JavaScript on front end. We will rather use HTML5 LocalStorage, the most efficient new technology that is rapidly embraced by developers across all platforms. Unlike web cookies, LocalStorage doesn't save data as text files on your hard disk, instead it saves them on your browser and only the website which stored data in the browser can access it, that's the most interesting part of it that has vanished possibility of all security threats forever. You can now easily control the display of widgets on your BlogSpot blogs using this method.

How To Embed Bing Maps to website
Bing Maps, Microsoft's answer to Google Maps, is becoming popular ever since Microsoft decided to overhaul it, and added hundreds of Terabytes of satellite imagery to its inventory. As a result, Bing Maps now puts up a pretty decent fight, and even surpasses Google Maps in some aspects. Maps can be infinitely useful when giving directions, and when embedded to a website, can give your visitors a lot more information about your business (if you have a physical location). They can be used to add many other cool features as well, such as IP/location tracking of the users etc. Today, we'll show you how to embed Bing Maps on Blogger Posts. These maps can be embedded on any website, and not just on Blogger. But we'll use the Blogger post editor for the purpose of showing you how to embed Bing Maps in your blog posts.

Click To Tweet - Create Customized Tweets
Tweet buttons on a website allows users to tweet the link to a post or page, along with its entire meta title. But the title isn't always what you want users to tweet, since it is designed with SEO in mind, and could look unseemly and out of place on Twitter. Instead, you might want users to tweet about an interesting fact, a quote or an opinion. Wouldn't it be cool if users could simply tweet that specific quote or fact by just clicking on a link or button? Check out how to create "Click to Tweet" links for quotes within your posts or pages.

Reposition Navigation Buttons in Blogger!

22 Comments so far

reposition navigation links in bloggerThe navigation buttons or links that are displayed at the bottom of each comment section in BlogSpot blogs enable visitors to switch between new and old posts or move from one post page to another ordered by date and time. These buttons become less of use when number of comments increase too much. Normally readers do not even observe the navigation deep down and this results in loss of precious pageviews. I have always emphasized that value pageviews more than unique visitors because it is indeed pageviews that turns into revenue generating page impressions both for AdSense or any other Ad Network.  You might have seen the More, Next and Previous button showing inside the top black sticky bar on MBT homepage and post pages. It is really not possible to shift a Post data item to any other widget section in blogger. Doing such results in "Data variable not found in dictionary" error or similar.

Its much easier to get your self related with the post. It will display author pics dynamically unlike the static way that Mohammad shared months ago which can be find here: Show Profile Avatars next to post titles.

Move your blog from LiveJournal To Blogger

10 Comments so far

LiveJournal is a great free resource for people who want to keep a log or a diary of sorts of theirs online, or share their life experiences with their friends and family. It allows people to make posts, and then cross-post and share on their social media profiles. Hence, these journals have all the markings of a blog. But for people who started off with LiveJournal, but aren't satisfied with the limited options it has, Blogger is a great option for them. Blogger is so much more than what LiveJournal is. Convert Blogger Template into a blank HTML Page

51 Comments so far

turn blogger to blank pageBlogSpot templates are codded using the XHTML 1.0 Strict Document Type. It was developed by world wide web consortium on 26 January 2000. Unlike PHP or the rules of XML are strict and unforgiving. A slight mistake in code results in terrifying error messages that you often see while editing your blog template. In order to understand how these templates are designed and programmed. You need to start from scratch. I was planning to release some grid and List view templates but the tough work schedule made it difficult to do so. However I am releasing today a simple code that will turn your test Blog's XML structure into a plain, empty template with no widgets. The entire blogger template consists of widgets that are operated and managed using classes and IDs. The blog posts section itself is a giant widget that can be styled in different ways. To make things simple I will share today how to create a blank HTML Page out of a Blogger Template and then start adding widgets to it to experiment exciting new ways of customizing the blog view.
