Facebook and privacy concerns, the two go almost hand-in-hand. Or at least they used to, but perhaps not anymore. In an attempt to quell privacy concerns, Facebook has announced that users can now login to third-party apps without having to share their private data. This aims to put an end to the massive phishing and other such kind of scam that involve extracting personal information by 'rogue' third-party developers.

Whenever there's a need for delivering dynamic content to users, there's a certain algorithm involved. The simplest of these delivers the latest content, as is the case with blogs and news websites, or social networks like Twitter. But that doesn't always cut it, because sometimes, users want more than just the latest news. They want the top and quality content, as is the case with Google Search. And not unlike Google's Search algorithm, Facebook has its own algorithm for ranking posts, and displaying them on your newsfeed. And this algorithm is called EdgeRank.

To Twitter and Google Plus users, hashtags are nothing new. They are known to have been useful marketing tools for many businesses. But Facebook is another matter. Facebook introduced the fancy hashtags back in June this year, a bit late in the offering. Too late perhaps, as one latest study suggests that Facebook hashtags might not be doing you much good. In fact, they might not be doing any good at all! The Facebook analytics service, EdgeRank Checker's findings conclude that posts with hashtags don't have an edge at all over posts without them!

If you have used Twitter, then you might be familiar with #hashtags. A #hashtag is basically a word or a phrase which is prefixed with a #. These #hashtags basically turn topics and phrases into click-able links. Twitter, Tout, identi.ca, Tumblr, Instagram, Flickr, Google+, all support hashtags. Recently Facebook also added the support for hashtags, and naturally, a lot of the users out there don't know what to do with them. The concept basically carries over from Twitter, so Twitter users who use Facebook know what they are. But for someone who has never used Twitter in their life, the hashtag can be an enigmatically cool-looking phrase which apparently is becoming 'cooler' and trendier by the day. Here's all you need to know about Facebook Hashtags.

Social media has taken the web by storm, and is now increasingly being integrated with various services. Social recommendations have now become a lot more important then they were a few years ago as compared to organic search, which goes on to show that the way the average internet surfs is changing. And it's no wonder that every social network wants you to share its content all over the web. For that effect, Facebook, following into the footsteps of YouTube and Twitter, has launched embeddable posts, which will enable blogs and websites to share status updates, pictures and videos that are on Facebook.

With a stalling stock, and tough competition from peers, it seems Facebook is now getting a bit more than it bargained for. This probably explains why they're hard at work improving their service, and introducing more features such as Graph Search, video and voice calling, and some brand new marketing features, the list is long, but doesn't end there. Facebook is introducing a new location tracking feature, which will help Facebook friends who are nearby to connect to each other. Additionally, businesses will be able to reach out to customers and promote offers to users based on their location. Apparently, this is a big change. But are we ready for this kind of thing?
