To write a good post, you will need to post images, audios, videos, flash files, JavaScript files etc. This can only be achieved if you setup an account with a free file hosting service. If you have ever used Google page creator, you will easily understand what I mean by hot linking. Just the way you upload your files at GPC and get unique URLS for your files, you do exactly the same at a free file hosting service which offers hot linking.
What is hot linking?
Hot linking means, directly embedding or linking to a resource on another server, such as an image or video, so that it appears to be part of the linking website. When you get an HTML code from an image hosting site or video hosting site and you paste it on your posts, the image or video appears instead of that code. This is called embedding. To embed an image, flash file, video etc. you must get separate URLs for your files and getting these unique URLs in other words is called hot linking.
Where to upload your files so to get hot linking?
There are many free file hosting services like,
- Google Sites [Best for Small Storage]
- Sigmirror.com [Best For Large Storage]
- Boxstr.com [Best For Large Storage]
You can host your files at Google sites by simply setting up an account plus you can create your own personal website using site.Google.com. Unfortunately the storage capacity is as little as 100MB. But Google Sites dominate all other services when it comes to upload and downloading speed. I just love it and rate it 10 out of 10 for keeping your files safe forever.
Important: Google Sites do not allow upload of JavaScript Files.
Sigmirror.com is a good website but I would recommend it only if you don’t want to sign up for an account and have your image files hosted for free. Moreover many JavaScript files that are uploaded here work just fine. Below are some of its features
- You Receive:
- 5GB of space
- Max file size 10mb
- 7GB of Daily bandwidth!
- Hotlinking allowed on all files (no more download timers!)
- No Image Watermarks
- Many file formats permitted
- Illegal/Pornographic content not allowed

Boxstr.com is a good website with a user friendly interface and some unique features like a User Dashboard.
Some of its features are,

- Max Upload per File: 1.0 GB

You can see above that you can upload a file as larger as 1GB!, which no other hosting service offers!

Summary:-
- Use Google Sites For Uploading any file other than JavaScript. It is highly Secured. After all it is ran by Google
- Use Sigmirror and Boxstr for uploading JavaScript files and other heavy files like movies, songs, games, software etc. It is not a 100% secured site. Sometimes during maintenance of these sites all your data gets deleted.

There is another website by the name of hotlinkfiles.com
Please do never set up an account with them. They are just frauds with a stupid and highly un-trusted service. I lost 155 files by setting an account with them. I have emailed them several times but I am receiving no reply. I was simply too frustrated the day I lost my precious files. So I repeat do not …do not….do not set up and account and do not be fooled by a fraud website like hotlinkfiles.com

Try Use.com They have thousands of templates. It's free, and you can post up to 100 full size images with no size or bandwidth restriction.
Works pretty good if you want to do things on the fly without knowing any HTML. Best thing is that you can save and reuse templates later on and their templates are both eBay and Craigslist compatible.
Worked for me and my images are not limited to what eBay or Craigslist offers plus I don't have to pay extra. Let me know what you think

But friend www.use.com hosts Only images and they don't host flash files, javaScript, PDF, etc etc etc. boxstr.com is therefore one of the best file hosting site that supports storage of all file types and not just images. I am finding that google sites won't let me hotlink. The swf only displays when I am logged in at google sites, otherwise there is just a white square where the swf should be.
I don't seem to be able to find a setting which says "allow hotlinking"
Am I missing something?

I just visited your blog and found that the flash movie is working just fine.
Concerning that google sites problem, I have some suggestions,
1. Its not important for someone to be signed in to view flash files uploaded in google sites. I have uploaded several flash files and they are working just fine whether I am signed in or out of my google account. See it yourself My Personally animated Flash Movie2. The reason why you can't view that flash movie in your blog when signed out or it takes too long to load is because your embedding code needs a bit of adjustment. This is what you are using,

I am using hotlinkfiles.com for my file storage but my bandwidth is already at 500mb/4gb plus in just 5 days and hotlinkfiles said that their monthly bandwidth is 8gb but why does my bandwidth says 500/4gb. I am now moving to boxstr hoping that it will do better than hotlinkfiles luckily I only uploaded few files at hotlinkfiles and I am in need of better file storage site that allows direct download.

Well I have mentioned above that hotlinkfiles.com is simply a fraud website with the entire service being run by some un-professional people. Kindly remove your files from there as soon as possible.
Boxstr.com has the same uploading/downloading computing system as that of hotlinfiles but I will recommend it for saving some temporary data there.
In short Google Sites is the best. Please sign up now! because Google will soon close new sign ups. Sing up for two or more accounts :)

Nice flash movie lol:) ..I'm using google pages for JavaScript but I heard it's closing in a few months? That sucks you lost your files..I keep all the files for my site in one folder in case the hosting goes down.

Based on your suggestion I have uploaded some PDF files to sites.google.com but whenever I try to open these files, they never do.
And I always get this message ....
Firefox can't find the server at 5337781476173019959-a-1802744773732722657-s-sites.googlegroups.com.
though these files are perfectly fine and I use them on my PC regularly, but after uploading to Google Sites they don't work.

I guess you saved it in groups.google.com because your link ends at googlegroups.com. If that is not the case then follow this basic step,
1. After you have uploaded the PDF to sites.google.com simply right click the link of the uploaded PDF and then choose Copy link location
2. Now when you have to share your link with your readers use the following html code ,
<a href="Paste The Link To PDF Here"> Write the title here </a>
It will appear like this,
Write the title here
This must work!

I think Boxstr is the best if u see the file size and the bandwidth allowed (1 GB per day!!). It resets the bandwidth everyday !! That's quite good.
I agree with you Mohammad that HotlinkFiles.com is a fraud! Hotlink was my first hosting file account when i created an account nearly last two years ago.As you said,it can't be trusted,i agree 100%.
Even untill now they still don't delete any of my files there,but i can't make a good hotlinking with them.After a few hours or a day,the linking will gone..it doesn't worked anymore.When i tried with other hosting files,its worked 100%..now i don't use hotlink as my linker even for storage..i make a back up and save it in other hosting.Google sites is better,but i used it for image linking only..to use it as css linking seems not working to me.

I am using gigafiles.co.uk for a long time (6 years), just after it was hacked, but it has started troubles now, but till now i have not lost any files. I am hoping to get support from them. boxstr has died as they changed to opendrive.com , check the forums, a lot of people lost there files.
